Target Information
Chicken Large Ribosomal Subunit Protein eL8 (RPL7A) is a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit of the ribosome. It plays a crucial role in protein synthesis by facilitating the binding of ribosomal RNA and other ribosomal proteins. This protein belongs to the L7AE family and contains a C4-type zinc finger-like domain. It can interact with a subclass of nuclear hormone receptors, including the thyroid hormone receptor, and inhibit their ability to transactivate by preventing their binding to DNA response elements. In chickens, RPL7A is highly conserved and shares significant sequence similarity with its mammalian counterparts. It is expressed in various tissues and is essential for cellular growth and differentiation. Abnormalities in RPL7A expression have been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, where it can form chimeric oncogenes through gene rearrangements.
