Target Information
Mouse Caspase-3 (Casp3) is a key executioner caspase in the apoptotic pathway, playing a central role in programmed cell death. It is activated by initiator caspases (e.g., caspase-8 and -9) and cleaves critical cellular proteins, leading to apoptosis. Caspase-3 is involved in various physiological processes, including tissue development, immune regulation, and neurodegeneration. In mouse models, Casp3 deficiency has been linked to impaired brain development, reduced cell proliferation in the epidermis, and altered tissue repair mechanisms. Caspase-3 also contributes to non-apoptotic functions, such as promoting wound healing and tissue regeneration through pathways like Wnt3 signaling. Additionally, Casp3 is implicated in diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, where it triggers early synaptic dysfunction, and in cancer, where its activity can influence tumor progression and therapy response.
