Target Information
Mouse Bone Morphogenetic Protein 8B (Bmp8b) is a member of the TGF-β superfamily and plays important roles in various biological processes. It is expressed in male germ cells and trophoblast cells and is essential for the initiation and maintenance of spermatogenesis in mice. Bmp8b also regulates energy metabolism, particularly in brown adipose tissue, where it enhances thermogenesis and is involved in the neuro-vascular remodeling of adipose tissue. In addition, Bmp8b has been implicated in the progression of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), where its deletion in mice results in reduced inflammation and fibrosis.
