Target Information

Chicken Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is a neuropeptide that plays a significant role in regulating various physiological functions, including appetite, immune responses, and vascular activity. VIP is expressed in both the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. In chickens, VIP has been shown to inhibit food intake through its action on the corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH) system in the brain. Additionally, VIP is involved in the regulation of immune responses and inflammation, acting as an immunomodulator that can influence the balance between Th1 and Th2 immune responses. VIP is also a potent vasodilator and can regulate smooth muscle activity and blood flow in the gastrointestinal tract.
