Enterokinase (EC 3.4.21.9), a serine protease located in the duodenum, is essential for mammalian digestion as it activates trypsinogen. The enzyme comprises a heavy chain (115 kDa) that is covalently bonded to a light chain, also known as the catalytic subunit (35 kDa).
