Target Information
Bovine Arginase-2, Mitochondrial (ARG2) is a key enzyme involved in L-arginine metabolism, primarily located in the mitochondria. It converts L-arginine to urea and L-ornithine, which can be further metabolized to produce polyamines essential for cell proliferation. ARG2 plays a significant role in immune regulation, promoting pro-inflammatory responses in macrophages through mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. In bovine systems, ARG2 is implicated in various cellular functions, including the regulation of nitric oxide (NO) synthesis and the maintenance of mitochondrial function. It also contributes to the immune evasion of pathogens and the regulation of inflammation-related signaling. Additionally, ARG2 has been shown to influence glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity, highlighting its importance in metabolic processes.
