Target Information
Bovine activin A receptor Type II A (ACVR2A) is a transmembrane serine-threonine kinase receptor that plays a crucial role in mediating the functions of activins, which are part of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily. This receptor is primarily involved in ligand binding and includes an extracellular ligand-binding domain, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic serine-threonine kinase domain. In cattle, ACVR2A is involved in a variety of biological processes such as cell proliferation, mating, and the development of the embryonic skeletal system. It is expressed in various structures, including the central nervous system, early blastocyst, gonads, intestine, and sensory organs. The gene may also be associated with the susceptibility to preeclampsia, a pregnancy-related disease that can lead to maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants for this gene.
Shipping and Storage
