Target Information
Mouse Interleukin-13 (IL-13) is a cytokine produced by various immune cells, such as mast cells, basophils, eosinophils, CD4 T cells, ILC2, and NK T cells. It plays a key role in immune responses, particularly in Th2-mediated reactions. IL-13 binds to its receptor, activating signaling pathways like JAK/STAT, which regulate gene expression related to inflammation and tissue repair. It is involved in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases like asthma and atopic dermatitis, where it induces airway hyperresponsiveness and mucus production. IL-13 also has neuroprotective effects in the brain, influencing synaptic plasticity and protecting neurons from excitotoxic injury.
