Target Information
Rat Caspase 12 is an endoplasmic-reticulum-localized cysteine protease that modulates unfolded-protein response and apoptosis signaling. It is constitutively expressed in kidney, lung, and neural tissues, where it acts as a calcium-activated checkpoint to limit ER stress. The 50 kDa pro-enzyme is cleaved into 20 and 35 kDa fragments that specifically process downstream substrates without affecting cytoplasmic caspases. Antibodies to rat Caspase 12 enable precise detection of ER-specific proteolytic events in rat models of neurodegeneration and metabolic stress.
