Target Information

Rat Alpha 2-Antiplasmin (a2PI) is a serine protease inhibitor that plays a crucial role in regulating fibrinolysis. It forms a covalent complex with plasmin, thereby inhibiting its proteolytic activity and preventing excessive degradation of fibrin clots. a2PI is synthesized in the liver and circulates in the blood, where it helps maintain the balance between coagulation and fibrinolysis. In rat models, a2PI is essential for preventing pathological bleeding and maintaining vascular integrity.
