Target Information

Rat Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a small, 6.2 kDa globular protein that exerts its actions by binding to the EGF Receptor (EGFR), a 170 kDa protein kinase. Activation of EGFR initiates diverse cellular pathways, including the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3 kinase-AKT, PLCγ-PKC, and STAT signaling modules. EGF acts as a potent mitogenic factor, promoting cell proliferation and differentiation. It is widely expressed in various tissues, including the kidney, cerebrum, prostate, and salivary glands.
