Target Information
Mouse furin is a 94 kDa type-I transmembrane proprotein convertase whose subtilisin-like catalytic domain cleaves RX(K/R)R motifs in the TGN and at the cell surface. A solvent-exposed 16-aa "HGK" loop (aa 303-318) between the S1 and S3 pockets folds into a β-hairpin unique among mouse PCs, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after paraformaldehyde fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native furin in Golgi membranes, neuronal growth cones, and adrenal medulla, delivering crisp perinuclear rings and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to PC5/6 or PC7.
