Canine S100 calcium binding protein A8 (S100A8) is a conserved cytoplasmic calcium-binding protein with a stable helix-loop-helix fold. It exists mainly in the cytoplasm and extracellular spaces, and is highly expressed in myeloid and immune-related cells. The protein maintains good molecular stability and structural integrity under physiological conditions. Its cytoplasmic and secretory distribution clearly distinguishes it from nuclear, mitochondrial, and membrane-specific proteins.
