It shows moderate expression across multiple epithelial and mesenchymal cell populations and forms oligomeric complexes embedded within cell lipid bilayers. Its large multi-spanning lipid transport architecture and broad tissue distribution distinguish it from soluble secreted cytokines, cytoplasmic signaling adaptors and nuclear transcription factors with simplified single-domain assemblies restricted to narrow specialized cell subgroups.
