Target Information

Bovine tissue factor (TF, coagulation factor III) is a 295-residue type I transmembrane glycoprotein whose extracellular Ig-like domain (residues 33-134) binds factor VIIa and phospholipid, while a single transmembrane helix anchors the protein to vascular smooth-muscle cells, fibroblasts and pericytes. A short 22-aa cytoplasmic tail contains a lysine-rich motif that associates with actin. Constitutively expressed in adventitia and organ capsules, TF localizes to cell surfaces and extracellular vesicles. Antibodies raised against the extracellular domain or cytoplasmic peptide detect native, glycosylated and truncated forms with negligible cross-reactivity to other coagulation factors, enabling selective immunoblot and immunohistochemical visualization in bovine tissue homogenates and sections.
