Target Information

Mouse Protein C is a vitamin K-dependent glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the regulation of blood coagulation. It is synthesized in the liver and circulates in the bloodstream as an inactive zymogen. Upon activation by thrombin, activated Protein C (APC) acts as a serine protease, inhibiting coagulation factors Va and VIIIa, thereby preventing excessive blood clotting. In mice, Protein C is essential for maintaining hemostasis and protecting against thrombotic disorders.
