Target Information
Gastricsin, also known as progastricsin, pepsinogen C, or pepsinogen II, is an acid endopeptidase present in the gastric juice of many vertebrate species. It is encoded by the PGC gene in pigs. It is an aspartic proteinase that belongs to the peptidase family A1. It is produced in the stomach and constitutes a major component of the gastric mucosa. It is also secreted into the serum.
