Target Information
Peptidoglycan Recognition Protein 1 (PGLYRP1), also known as TAG7, is an antibacterial and pro-inflammatory innate immunity protein encoded by the PGLYRP1 gene in cattle. PGLYRP1 acts as a pattern receptor that binds to murein peptidoglycans (PGN) of Gram-positive bacteria, providing bactericidal activity. It plays several important functions in antimicrobial and antitumor defense systems. It is a member of the four different classes of PGLYRPs found in mammals. It is known to bind and kill a number of different microorganisms.
