Target Information

Cystathionine Gamma-Lyase (CGL), also known as cystathionase, is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism. CGL is involved in the trans-sulfuration pathway within the cell. It converts cystathionine, a compound derived from methionine, into cysteine. Bovine Cystathionine Gamma-Lyase is encoded by the CTH gene in cattle. CTH and H2S are correlated with the occurrence and development of Clinical Mastitis (CM) in Holstein cows.

Target/Biomarker Bovine CTH
Target Synonym cystathionine gamma-lyase; cystathionase (cystathionine gamma-lyase); cysteine-protein sulfhydrase; gamma-cystathionase
Gene ID 539159
UniProt ID Q58DW2
