Target Information

Ghrelin And Obestatin Prepropeptide is encoded by the GHRL gene in pigs. It is predominantly produced by enteroendocrine cells in the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the stomach. Ghrelin is an appetite-stimulating hormone involved in a variety of biological functions including regulation of feeding behaviour, tissue growth and development, hormone secretion and energy homeostasis. The GHRL gene is considered as a candidate gene responsible for growth and development traits of many species including pigs.
