Target Information
Thioredoxin Binding Protein 2 (TBP2) performs various functions in mice, including the regulation of lipid metabolism, immune response, oxidative stress response, insulin secretion, and tumor suppression. TBP2 helps maintain cellular redox balance by binding to and inhibiting Thioredoxin (TRX), a crucial antioxidant involved in cellular defense against oxidative stress and apoptosis. By inhibiting TRX, TBP2 indirectly influences cell survival and apoptosis. Additionally, TBP2 plays a significant role in regulating insulin secretion and metabolism. In mouse models, the absence of TBP2 results in decreased insulin sensitivity and lower expression of lipolysis genes in adipose tissue, leading to hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia.
