Target Information

Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 3 is a receptor for the lysosphingolipid sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P), a bioactive lysophospholipid that induces various physiological effects in most cell types and tissues. S1PR3 is highly expressed in quiescent satellite cells, which are crucial for muscle repair. Research indicates that S1PR3 aids muscle regeneration by maintaining the quiescent state of satellite cells and inhibiting cell cycle progression. In mice lacking S1PR3, satellite cells exhibit increased proliferation capacity; however, the quality and efficiency of muscle regeneration are compromised, as evidenced by larger myofibers and reduced central nuclear clustering.
