Target Information
Semaphorin-4A serves as a cell surface receptor for PLXNB1, PLXNB2, PLXNB3, and PLXND1, playing a crucial role in cell-cell signaling. It is involved in the regulation of glutamatergic and GABAergic synapse development. In the mouse immune system, Sema4A is pivotal for the activation and differentiation of T cells. Research indicates that Sema4A enhances T cell activation and strengthens Th1-type immune responses while inhibiting Th2-type responses by interacting with receptors such as Tim-2 and Plexin D1. For instance, mice deficient in Sema4A exhibit a diminished response to Th1-type pathogens and an increased response to Th2-type pathogens, like Nippostrongylus brasiliensis. Furthermore, Sema4A influences T cell-mediated immune responses by regulating the stability of Treg cells.
