Target Information

Myosin-4 is a key player in muscle contraction and is primarily involved in the formation and maintenance of the muscle cytoskeleton in mice. Dysfunction of Myosin-4 can lead to disease phenotypes, such as reduced muscle mass. In mouse models, mutations in the Myh4 gene have been linked to the "mini-muscle" phenotype, characterized by a significant reduction in hindlimb muscle mass. This phenotype arises from a marked decrease in the expression level of the Myh4 gene. Specifically, in Myh4Minimsc mice, the transcription level of the Myh4 gene is approximately eight times lower than in normal mice, underscoring the critical role of the Myh4 gene in muscle development and maintenance. These findings highlight the importance of Myosin-4 in ensuring proper muscle structure and function.
