Target Information
Mouse Indoxyl Sulfate is a protein-bound metabolite produced via the hepatic sulfation of indole, a product of gut-derived tryptophan metabolism. In murine models, IS acts as a potent endogenous ligand for the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR). It is primarily used to investigate the molecular mechanisms of renal fibrosis, vascular calcification, and cognitive impairment associated with uremia. Its accumulation in mice triggers the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and reactive oxygen species (ROS), driving the progression of systemic organ damage.
