Target Information
C-X-C motif chemokine 9 (CXCL9) is a cytokine that may influence the growth, movement, or activation state of cells involved in immune and inflammatory responses. In mice, CXCL9 has complex and diverse functions, including protective roles like anti-fibrosis, regulation of vascular functions, and immunomodulation, as well as involvement in pathological processes such as liver injury, tumor progression, and diabetic nephropathy. CXCL9 is particularly significant in acute liver injury; for instance, in acetaminophen-induced liver injury models, it exacerbates damage by promoting CXCR3-mediated hepatocyte apoptosis. In prostate cancer models, CXCL9 contributes to tumor progression by inhibiting cytokine secretion from T cells, including IL-6 and TGF-β.
