Target Information

The Alpha-2A adrenergic receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) associated with the G_i heterotrimeric G-protein. It consists of three highly homologous subtypes: α2A, α2B, and α2C. These receptors play a critical role in regulating neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves and from adrenergic neurons in the central nervous system. Alpha-2A Adrenergic Receptor is encoded by the ADRA2A gene in pigs. ADRA2A can regulate the norepinephrine release and cause sympathetic activation.
