Target Information

In mice, the role of MAGEB16 (known as Mageb16 in mice) primarily involves the differentiation and regulation of pluripotent stem cells (ESCs). Mageb16 is found in the mouse testis and exhibits high tissue specificity during embryonic development, particularly with a marked increase in expression levels in the testis. Additionally, Mageb16 is expressed at high levels in undifferentiated mouse embryonic stem cells but is significantly reduced once the cells differentiate. When Mageb16 is knocked out in mouse embryonic stem cells (KD-ESCs), there is a notable tendency for the cells to differentiate, mainly into mesodermal derivatives such as cardiovascular, skeletal, and muscle mesodermal cells.
