Target Information

Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 3 is believed to be an inactive protein kinase that modulates signaling pathways downstream of immune receptors, such as IL1R and Toll-like receptors. It functions by preventing the dissociation of IRAK1 and IRAK4 from the Toll-like receptor signaling complex, either through the inhibition of IRAK1 and IRAK4 phosphorylation or by stabilizing the receptor complex. In mice, this kinase is encoded by the IRAK3 gene. IRAK3 inhibits inflammatory responses in mice mainly by negatively regulating the TLR signaling pathway and plays an important role in a variety of diseases (e.g., infection, inflammation, cerebral ischemia, myocardial infarction, obesity, and neoplasia).
