Target Information

Integrin alpha-3 acts as a receptor for several extracellular matrix proteins, including fibronectin, laminin, collagen, epiligrin, thrombospondin, and CSPG4. The integrin alpha-3/beta-1 complex serves as a docking site for FAP (seprase) at invadopodia plasma membranes, facilitating cell adhesion, invadopodia formation, and matrix degradation in a collagen-dependent manner, thereby promoting cell invasion. In mice, integrin α3 primarily contributes to cell adhesion and signal transduction, playing a vital role in numerous biological processes and diseases. As a cell adhesion receptor, integrin α3 is crucial for interactions between cells and the extracellular matrix. In mice, it forms a complex with the β1 subunit, participating in essential functions such as cell migration, proliferation, and differentiation. Furthermore, integrin α3 displays a specific expression pattern during mouse embryonic development, being expressed in tissues like the fetal mouse heart, brain, lung, and kidneys, which suggests its potential role in embryonic development and tissue differentiation.
