Target Information
Deoxyribonuclease-1 (DNase-1) is a serum endonuclease released into bodily fluids by a variety of exocrine and endocrine organs. It is produced by non-hematopoietic tissues and has a preference for cleaving protein-free DNA. Among its various roles, DNase-1 appears to be involved in the process of apoptosis, or programmed cell death. It specifically binds to G-actin, inhibiting actin polymerization. DNase-1 has been identified as one of the major proteins present in mouse urine, indicating that its presence in body fluids may be linked to certain physiological or pathological conditions, such as immune regulation or tissue damage.
