Target Information
Ena/VASP proteins are actin-associated proteins that play a critical role in processes requiring cytoskeleton remodeling and cell polarity, such as axon guidance and the dynamics of lamellipodia and filopodia in migrating cells. EVL, for instance, enhances actin nucleation and polymerization. Ena/VASP-like proteins influence cell migration and morphological changes by regulating actin assembly and reorganization, crucial for activities like cilia formation and dynamic remodeling of cell membranes. In mice, the absence of Ena/VASP-like proteins leads to a significant decrease in cell migration speed, directionality, and migration distance.
