Target Information
Coagulation Factor IX is a plasma protein dependent on vitamin K, which plays a role in the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation by converting factor X into its active form. This process requires the presence of Ca2+ ions, phospholipids, and factor VIIIa. In mice, the function of coagulation factor IX (FIX) is intimately linked to its role in blood coagulation. Mouse models with defective FIX exhibit bleeding tendencies akin to human hemophilia B. Elevated levels of coagulation factor IX are associated with a higher risk of venous thrombosis, indicating that treatment doses of coagulation factor IX must be carefully managed to prevent potential thrombotic complications.
