Target Information

Caspase-8 is a thiol protease crucial for programmed cell death, functioning as a molecular switch for apoptosis, necroptosis, and pyroptosis, and is essential in preventing tissue damage both during embryonic development and in adulthood. In mice, caspase-8 is involved in regulating apoptosis, necrosis, pyroptosis, and plays significant roles in immune response and inflammation. The absence of caspase-8 can lead to severe outcomes such as embryonic lethality, cardiovascular defects, and enteritis. However, its function can be restored by removing related inhibitory factors, such as Ripk3.
