Target Information
C-type lectin domain family 7 member A is a lectin functioning as a pattern recognition receptor (PRR) that specifically targets beta-1,3-linked and beta-1,6-linked glucans found in the cell walls of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Clec7a identifies β-1,3/β-1,6-glucan in fungal cell walls, triggering the downstream SYK kinase signaling pathway and initiating an immune response. Research has demonstrated that Clec7a is crucial for antifungal immunity. For instance, in conditions like experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and antifungal infections, mice deficient in Clec7a show more severe disease symptoms, including higher fungal loads and intensified inflammatory responses.
