Target Information

Ataxin-10 may play a role in regulating cytokinesis and is involved in signaling through the stimulation of protein glycosylation. It promotes neuritogenesis by activating the Ras-MAP kinase pathway and is essential for the survival of cerebellar neurons. Atx-10 is the protein responsible for spinocerebellar ataxia type 10 (SCA10), an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disease characterized by cerebellar ataxia and epilepsy. Research has shown that Atx-10 is highly expressed in the mouse brain, particularly in the cerebellar cortex and other specific neuronal populations. The knockdown of Atx-10 results in increased neuronal apoptosis in mice, indicating its critical role in neuronal survival.
