Growth Hormone 1, also referred to as somatotropin, is encoded by the GH1 gene in ducks. Growth hormone plays an important role in growth control. When comparing the amino acid sequence of duck GH with that of other species, it shows 56% similarity to human GH, 73% to rat GH, and 40% to salmon GH.
