It has been observed that ubiquitin expression is present in degenerating axons within horses diagnosed with cervical compressive myelopathy. In the context of equine polysaccharide storage myopathy, ubiquitin immunostaining serves as a valuable tool for confirming the diagnosis, particularly in horses exhibiting solely amylase-sensitive glycogen aggregates or those in the early stages of amylase-resistant inclusions.
