Target Information
Fatty Acid Binding Protein 7, Brain (FABP7), encoded by the FABP7 gene in horses, plays a crucial role in early nervous system development. FABP7 is a brain fatty acid binding protein. It belongs to a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. These proteins are thought to play roles in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. It is predominantly expressed in astrocytes and neuronal cell precursors within the mature brain.
