Target Information

Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) is an endogenous androstane steroid produced by the adrenal cortex. It is a metabolite of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and circulates in far greater relative concentrations than DHEA. DHEA can convert into a range of hormones, including androgens and estrogens (the male and female sex hormones). DHEA-S affects steroid hormone biosynthesis on a molecular level resulting in an increased formation of pregnenolone.

Target/Biomarker Caprine DHEA-S
Target Synonym Androstenolone sulfate; Prasterone sulfate; Androst-5-en-3β-ol-17-one 3β-sulfate
