Troponin T is one of the three subunits of the troponin complex. The troponin complex is essential for muscle contraction in both skeletal and cardiac muscles. TNNT2 encodes heart muscle TnT. TNNT2 is transiently expressed in embryonic and neonatal skeletal muscle.
