Target Information
Sex determining region Y box protein 9 is encoded by the SOX9 gene in cattle. It is a member of the SRY-box transcription factor family. It is a very early and persistently expressed marker of Sertoli cells. It plays an essential role in testis differentiation. SOX-9 recognizes specific DNA sequences and regulates the expression of target genes. In bovine granulosa cells, research has shown that oleic acid induces upregulation of SOX9.
