Target Information

Plasminogen (Plg) is an important enzyme present in the blood, whose function is to dissolve fibrinogen blood clots. Plasminogen, a glycoprotein synthesized in the liver, is the inactive precursor of plasmin. It plays a crucial role in the fibrinolytic system, responsible for dissolving blood clots, by waiting to be activated into its active form, plasmin. In cows, increased conversion of plasminogen to plasmin occurs during late lactation and during postlactation involution.
