Target Information
Mouse Lipopolysaccharide-Binding Protein (Lbp) is a key component of the innate immune system that plays a crucial role in the recognition and neutralization of bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS). Lbp binds to LPS and facilitates its transfer to CD14, a receptor on the surface of immune cells such as macrophages and dendritic cells. This interaction triggers the activation of the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathway, leading to the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and the initiation of an immune response. In mouse models, Lbp is highly expressed in the liver and spleen, where it helps in the clearance of LPS from the bloodstream. Abnormal expression or function of Lbp has been implicated in various inflammatory and infectious diseases, including sepsis and endotoxemia.
