Target Information

Myosin-1 is a motor protein that plays a crucial role in muscle contraction. Bovine Myosin-1 is encoded by the MYH1 gene in cattle. It has been reported that reining and working cow Quarter Horses have the highest prevalence of the E321G MYH1 variant. Additionally, an E321G mutation in a highly conserved region of the MYH1 gene has been associated with susceptibility to immune-mediated myositis and nonexertional rhabdomyolysis.
