Target Information
Mouse Zinc-Alpha-2-Glycoprotein (Azgp1) is a secreted protein encoded by the AZGP1 gene, located on chromosome 5. It is structurally similar to MHC class I molecules and is involved in lipid metabolism, cancer-related cachexia, and cell cycle control. Azgp1 promotes lipolysis and reduces lipid deposition, playing a role in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) by blocking inflammation. It also acts as an anti-fibrotic factor in kidney and heart diseases. In cancer, Azgp1 regulates the tumor microenvironment and is linked to poor prognosis in triple-negative breast cancer. Potential applications include therapeutic targeting for metabolic and fibrotic disorders.
