Target Information
Mouse Thioredoxin Reductase 1, Cytoplasmic (Txnrd1) is a key enzyme in maintaining cellular redox balance. It reduces thioredoxin and regulates cellular antioxidant responses, protecting cells from oxidative stress. Txnrd1 is involved in processes like cell proliferation, apoptosis inhibition, and immune regulation. It has been implicated in diseases such as cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and neurodegenerative disorders. In COPD, Txnrd1 overexpression is associated with oxidative stress and inflammation, while its inhibition may reduce disease severity. In leukemia, Txnrd1 plays a role in regulating ferroptosis, a form of cell death induced by oxidative stress. Targeting Txnrd1 offers potential therapeutic strategies for oxidative stress-related diseases and cancers.
