Target Information
Mouse Lactotransferrin (Ltf) is a multifunctional glycoprotein involved in iron transport and immune defense. It plays a critical role in innate immunity by sequestering iron to inhibit microbial growth and neutralizing lipopolysaccharides (LPS). Ltf modulates inflammatory responses by interacting with receptors like TLR4 and CD14, attenuating NF-κB signaling and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine production. It is also involved in adaptive immunity, promoting the maturation of dendritic cells and enhancing antigen presentation. Ltf has been shown to protect against endotoxemia by preserving intestinal integrity and reducing inflammation. Additionally, it exhibits chemoprotective effects and is being explored for its therapeutic potential in conditions like sepsis, neurodegenerative diseases, and allergies.
