Target Information
Mouse Interleukin-31 (Il31) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-6 superfamily, which plays a crucial role in mediating inflammation and pruritus (itching). It is primarily produced by activated CD4+ T cells, monocytes/macrophages, and dendritic cells. Il31 signals through a receptor complex composed of IL-31 receptor A (IL-31RA) and oncostatin M receptor (OSMR), activating downstream signaling pathways such as STAT3 and STAT5. This cytokine is particularly implicated in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis (AD), where it contributes to the recruitment of eosinophils and the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. In mouse models, Il31 has been shown to induce long-lasting scratching behavior, highlighting its role in itch sensation.
