Target Information
Mouse Catalase (Cat) is a crucial antioxidant enzyme found in the peroxisomes of cells. It catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) into water and oxygen, thereby protecting cells from oxidative damage. Catalase plays a vital role in maintaining cellular redox balance and is essential for detoxifying reactive oxygen species (ROS). In addition to its antioxidant function, catalase is involved in various metabolic processes, including lipid metabolism and the regulation of immune responses. Deficiency in catalase activity can lead to increased oxidative stress and is associated with several diseases, such as diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders.
